Love Conquers All
Part II

Part I Part III

TK nervously waited next to Gate D in Tokyo Airport. Kari's plane was landing in five minutes. Her college freshman photography class had gone to London, England for a two week field trip. TK had missed Kari so much that the two weeks never seemed to end. Now she was back. Mimi, Matt, Tai, and Sora were throwing Kari a huge welcome back surprise party tonight. TK had practically begged Tai if he could go pick Kari up. Tai had relented so TK, accompanied by Patamon, had driven to Tokyo to meet Kari.

His thoughts started drifting towards the future. Freshman year was over and Mimi's parents had let Mimi invite three people to go on a trip to Australia. Matt, Mimi, TK, and Kari were leaving in two weeks for a three month stay.

ANNOUNCER: Attention, Flight 163 from London to Tokyo has just landed.

A line of people entered the airport, but TK didn't see them. All he saw was the brown eyed, brown haired girl in the pink shirts and blue shorts carrying a white cat in her arms. Her eyes locked with his and, giving a huge smile, placed the cat down and ran towards him.

KARI: TK!
TK: Kari!

They embrace and TK holds her, never wanting to let her go. Patamon and Gatomon also embrace.

TK: Oh, Kari, I missed you so much.
KARI: I missed you too, TK.
PATAMON: Did you have a lot of fun, Gatomon?
GATOMON: Yes. And I even have a special surprise for you.
PATAMON: *laughs*
TK: Do you have a lot of bags?
KARI: Only six.

After the four of them picked up her bags and loaded them into the truck of TK"s car, TK leans over in his seat and plants a kiss on Kari's lips.

TK: I've been wanting to do that for two weeks.
KARI: Me too.

Starting to car, TK drove out of the parking lot and headed for the Kamiya Residence.

A half hour later, TK pulled up in front of the apartment building. They unloaded the bags and carried them in and up the elevator. Opening the door, they were greeted by a big cheer. Everyone was there. Tai, Sora, Mimi, Matt, Izzy, Joe, Yolei, Ken, Cody, and Davis. Kari was so shocked that TK held her arm in case she fell. Tai ran up and gave her a big hug.

TAI: Kari, you're back! Come in, come in! Matt, help me with these bags.

Tai, Matt, and TK bring in the bags and lay them next to the door, while the girls drag Kari onto the couch where Meeko jumps into her lap. TK sits on one side, Tai on the other side, and everyone else gathered around to hear all about Kari's trip.

KARI: ... and on the plane trip back there was this really rude guy near us and it got so bad that Gatomon picked up a piece of chicken from my plate and hurled it at him. It hit him in the back of the head and he swore that Gatomon threw it. But since she was just acting like a stuffed animal, no one believed him. The rest of the flight was peaceful.
TAI: Sounds like you had a great trip.
KARI: Oh, I did. But coming back here was the best.
DAVIS: Hey, Kari, what did you bring us?
YOLEI: Davis, Kari just got back!
DAVIS: Sorry.
KARI: That's okay, Davis. Everything's in those four bags.

Kari pointed to the four largest of her bags and TK got up and lugged them over.

KARI: Thanks, TK

Kari opened the bags and started handing out the gifts for everyone. Tai got a soccer ball that had small pictures of London on it. Matt got a harmonica in the shape of Big Ben, the clock tower. Cody received a book called "Kemdo: All You Need To Know" Mimi received a porcelain figure of a pink dolphin jumping out of the water. Ken got a book called "How To Create Video Games Like The Pros". Sora and Yolei got necklaces that were similar to the crown jewels. Davis received a soccer jersey like the ones the soccer team in England wear. Izzy got a Big Ben computer toper that could also store discs. Joe received a stethoscope from a London hospital. Kari gave TK a porcelain heart box that had "TK and Kari Forever" engraved inside. And for all the digimon, Kari got shirts that said, "My friend went to London, England and all she got me was this shirt." Then they settled down to have pizza, chips, soda, and ice cream and watch a couple of movies. TK never left Kari's side and even managed to sneak a couple of kisses in. As it got later on in the evening, everyone started filling out to go back home. TK was the last to leave and Kari walked him outside to his car.

TK: Thanks for my present, Kari. I really love it.
KARI: You were actually the hardest to shop for. I wanted to get you something really special
TK: Well, I got something for you, too.

TK pulls out a blue box.

KARI: Oh, TK, you shouldn't have.

TK flips open the lid and reveals a silver heart locket on a chain.

KARI: Oh, TK. It's beautiful.
TK: Open it.

Kari opened the locket to reveal a picture of TK on one side and a picture of her on the other. Kari was speechless as TK lifted the necklace out of her hand and fastened it around her neck.

KARI: I love it. And I love you.
TK: I love you too.

As they share a kiss, Patamon and Gatomon come out of the building.

PATAMON: C'mon, Gatomon. You said you'd tell me when we got
outside. What's my present?
GATOMON: This.

Gatomon grabbed Patamon and pulled him close giving him a big kiss. TK and Kari looked down at them as Gatomon let him go.

PATAMON: Oh!

Patamon blushed a deep pink. Then he pulled Gatomon to him and gave her a big kiss. Now it was Gatomon's turn to blush a deep pink. Then after one last kiss, TK climbed into his car and Patamon strapped in next to him on the passenger side.

TK: Bye, Kari. I'll call you tomorrow.
KARI: I'll be waiting.
PATAMON: Bye, Gatomon.
GATOMON: Bye, Patamon. I love you!
PATAMON: I love you too!

TK pulled the car out into the street, and waving to Kari, drove away towards his house.

Later that night, Kari was watching the nightly news when she got up to get a glass of water.

NEWSCASTER: We now go to one of our reporters on the scene of an apparent hit and run.
REPORTER: The victim has been identified as Takeru Takaishi, who has just finished his freshman year of college. Details of the crash are sketchy, but eyewitnesses say that a dark car was speeding down the road taking up both lanes. Takaishi tried to swerve, but was hit. He has been rushed to a nearby hospital where he is in a coma.

Tai, who was in his room reading a book, ran into the living room when he heard the sound of breaking glass. Standing in the middle of the room was his sister, her face white and her hand still poised as if still holding a glass, which was now lying in pieces on the floor.

TAI: Kari, what happened? What's wrong?

Kari doesn't move so Tai goes over and shakes her.

KARI: Huh? Tai?
TAI: Kari, are you okay?
KARI: It's TK! He was hit my a car and now in the hospital. You have to drive me there!
TAI: Of course I will. Grab Gatomon and I'll leave a note for mom and dad.

Kari woke up Gatomon, who had been napping, and explained that they were going to the hospital. Back in the living room, Tai was signing the note when a tapping on the window startled them. Gatomon ran and opened it the let in a breathless and tired Patamon. As he collapsed on the couch, Kari went and brought him a glass of water. After gulping half of it down, he told them what happened.

PATAMON: TK was driving along when this dark blue car came out of nowhere driving across all the lanes. TK tried to swerve out of the way, but at that moment the car also swerved and smashed into our car. I couldn't wake TK up as the car sped away. A few minutes later I heard sirens. I don't know why, but I flew and hid in a tree and watched the ambulance come and take TK to the hospital. Then I came here. I left TK when he needed me the most. I can't face him again!

Patamon starts to cry.

GATOMON: It's not your fault, Patamon. You did the right thing. What would the medics say if they saw you? It's a good thing you came to tell us.

Gatomon comforts Patamon.

TAI: Kari, we should go.
KARI: Right. You two coming?
PATAMON: *sniffs* Mmmhmm.

At the hospital, Tai and Kari rush to the emergency ward where they meet Mrs. Takaishi, Mr. Ishida, and Matt in the waiting room.

KARI: Mrs. Takaishi. Is TK all right?
MRS. TAKAISHI: The doctor says that he's in a coma. There's nothing physically wrong with him. But they won't be a hundred percent sure until he wakes up.

A doctor enters the waiting room and approaches them.

DOCTOR: Mrs. Takaishi, Mr. Ishida, you can see him now.
MR. ISHIDA: Is he going to be okay?
DOCTOR: He's still in a coma, I'm afraid. I'll show you to his room.

Kari stands up.

DOCTOR: I'm sorry, but family only.
MATT: She's his fiance. It's okay.
DOCTOR: Very well. Follow me.

In TK's room, TK was lying on a bed, looking just like he was sleeping. Mrs. Takaishi rushed to the bed followed by Mr. Ishida. Tai and Matt hang back as Mrs. Takaishi turned and cried on her ex husbamd's shoulder. Kari moved to the other side of the bed and took in the situation in her own quiet way. Gatomon pulled herself up to the foot of the bed as Patamon sat next to her, tears coursing down his cheeks.

MRS. TAKAISHI: He looks so peaceful. Just like he will wake up any minute now. He will Wake up!
MATT: Of course he will, mom.
PATAMON: It's all my fault! If I had stayed with him, I might have been able to wake him! Waah!
GATOMON: Patamon, shh. It's not your fault.

Gatomon pushed Patamon over to a chair and they sat down with Patamon leaning against her sobbing softly.

Two hours later, Mr. and Mrs. Kamiya came in and after talking with TK's parents it was decided that Mrs. Takaishi, Kari, Patamon, and Gatomon would stay at the hospital while the others went home. That night was one of the worst for Kari. Not being able to sleep, she pulled a chair over to TK's bed and just sat watching him. A couple times she thought he had stopped breathing, but she had just dozed off. At five o'clock in the morning, she fell asleep in the chair with her head next to his and her hand tucked into his.

Kari woke up two hours later with someone squeezing her hand. Mrs. Takaishi was still asleep on her cot and Patamon and Gatomon were sleeping on Kari's cot. Feeling the squeeze again, she turned to TK to see his eyes flutter open. Kari released his hand and went to shake Mrs. Takaishi awake.

KARI: Mrs. Takaishi, wake up. TK's awake.
MRS. TAKAISHI: He is? Oh, my little boy's awake!

They both go to his bed.

MRS. TAKAISHI: TK, how are you?
TK: Who are you two? And whose TK?
MRS. TAKAISHI: Don't be silly, son. You're TK, I'm your mother, and this is your fiance, Kari.
TK: I can't remember. Everything's hazy.

Mrs. Takaishi ran to get a doctor.

KARI: You must al least remember your digimon Patamon?

TK looks at the cot where Patamon is sleeping.

TK: What's a digimon?

Mrs. Takaishi returns with the doctor.

DOCTOR: From what it sounds like TK has amnesia. The crash must of affected his brain.
MRS. TAKAISHI: Doctor, is it permanent?
DOCTOR: Most likely not. Just remind him of his life, get him back in his daily routine and he should come around. There doesn't seem to be anything else wrong with him so he's ready to leave whenever you want.
MRS. TAKAISHI: I think it's best to bring him home today so he'll be able to be in a familiar environment.

At the Takaishi Residence, TK was sleeping in his bed. Kari was sitting next to his bed and Patamon and Gatomon were sitting at the foot of the bed. In the living room Matt, Mrs. Takaishi, and Mr. Ishida were talking.

MATT: I think Kari will end up spending the night. Should we order take out?
MR. ISHIDA: Sure.
MRS. TAKAISHI: Why don't you see what Kari would like.
MATT: Okay.

Matt walks into the room, but nobody was there. Taped to the pillow was a note.

-Took TK to the Digital World. Maybe will help his memory. Will be back soon. *Kari-

MATT: Good luck, Kari. [to his parents] Why don't we wait on the take out. They're both asleep.

In the Digital World, TK , Kari, Patamon, and Gatomon are walking through a field.

TK: So this is... What's it called?
KARI: The Digital World. Don't you remember, TK?
TK: No. Everything's mixed up.
GATOMON: Don't worry. Your memory will come back.
PATAMON: Yeah! [thinking] Then he'll remember that I abandoned him after the crash.

Suddenly a black teddy bear digimon broke through the trees and advanced on them.

TK: What's that?
GATOMON: It's a digimon! WaruMonzaemon. There's nothing cute about his Hearts Break and Bear Claw attacks. It's best to stay clear!
KARI: Gatomon, are you ready?
GATOMON: Ready! Gatomon, digivolve to...
ANGEWOMON: Angewomon! Celestial Arrow!
WARUMONZAEMON: Argh! Bear Claw!
ANGEWOMON: Ahh!
KARI: Angewomon!
PATAMON: TK, quick! I have to digivolve!
TK: Digi, what?
WARUMONZAEMON: Hearts Break attack!
KARI: Ahh!

Kari gets thrown into Angewomon and they both hit the ground. TK gets thrown to the ground and his head smacks the ground. Kari runs over to TK and turns him over, laying his head in her lap.

KARI: Oh, no. Please don't go. Even if you don't get your memory back, it's better than you not being here at all. I love you, TK. Please don't leave me.

A few tears fall onto TK's face. He groans and opens his eyes. He then reaches up and brushes the tears from Kari's face.

TK: Kari, don't cry.
KARI: Oh, TK!

Kari wraps her arms around him in a huge hug.

KARI: I thought I'd lost you.
TK: Uh! Don't worry. You know I'd never leave you. I love you, Kari. Could you just loosen your grip?
KARI: Sorry. Your memory...
TK: ...is back.

Then Patamon is thrown into them after trying to help Angewomon.

TK: Patamon, digivolve!
PATAMON: You said it! Patamon, digivolve to...
ANGEMON: Angemon! Hand of Fate!
ANGEWOMON: Celestial Arrow!

Suddenly WaruMonzaemon disappears.

ANGEMON: Where'd he go?
ANGEWOMON: We didn't destroy him.
VOICE: My computer program works to perfection. We can now call up realistic looking copies of digimon that our digimon can fight, so they don't get rusty. Now, where'd that WaruMonzaemon go?
TK & KARI: Izzy?!

Sure enough, Izzy emerges from a group of trees.

IZZY: TK, Kari, what are you doing here?
KARI: I brought TK here to try to regain his memory.
TK: And it worked too!
IZZY: Prodigious! Uh, you guys didn't see a WaruMonzaemon around here did you?

TK, Kari, Gatomon, and Patamon burst out laughing.

IZZY: What? What's so funny?
GATOMON: Izzy, we defeated it. I think you made them too realistic looking.
IZZY: Oh. Sorry.

They all start to laugh.

A week later, all twelve digidestined and their digimon were at Mimi's house where they were having a goodbye party for TK, Kari, Mimi, Matt, and their digimon who were leaving the next day for Australia. Everyone was having fun, when TK noticed that Patamon was sitting by the window. His digimon had been very quiet the past week. Gatomon was also there with an arm around Patamon.

TK: Patamon, Gatomon, why aren't you enjoying the party?

Gatomon gave Patamon a kiss on the cheek and then left to leave them alone.

TK: Patamon, what's wrong?
PATAMON: [crying softly] I can't face you. I left you at the crash site when you needed me.
TK: Patamon, I'm not mad. I'm proud of you.
PATAMON: [sniffs] You are?
TK: Yes. You kept your head and didn't go to pieces. You went to tell Kari. If I had been conscious, I would of told you to do the same thing.
PATAMON: Really?
TK: Patamon, you're my best friend.
PATAMON: And you're mine.

They hug as Kari and Gatomon peek around the corner. TK notices them.

TK: So, why don't we find our girls and dance 'till all our feet are sore.
PATAMON: I'd say that's a great idea.

They laugh as they grab Kari and Gatomon and pull them into a dance.

THE END

**And the car and driver who hit TK were located and the guy, who had been drunk, was put in jail.
